1. Where did the idea for the atypical cultinterview.com came from? - My friend, who lives alone in Canada, asked me: why don’t I create a site myself, since I can already write. This is how Cultinterview.com was created exactly 5 years ago. A wonderful place for interesting people to express themselves. What is freshest about this is that for me it’s incredibly pleasant to meet people, that I have chosen personally. I see someone, we get coffee, we talk, take a few shots, and it’s ... emotional most times. There are people who have not reached full popularity yet, but have the capacity and past to talk about interesting moments in their life or in their profession. 2. Is it hard to swim in a sea of words and information nowadays? - I think that people get overwhelmed with all of the information that they receive every single day, from all medias- serious or not. That’s why, when they open the internet, they just “click” and don’t make an effort to see what stands behind that. What’s importantly is the like. Someone probably said something important …?! Apparently it doesn’t matter. A new post with different information quickly follows up. It’s not very pleasant when you try to create something touching, but it doesn’t reach anyone. 3. Who is the most interesting person you have interviewed? - There are many peculiar people. Everyone wakes up in a different mood and you can’t predict if on the said day, the person would want to talk, smile, or even perceive seriously our meeting. A guest can look like a good interlocutor, but may not always be one. The smart and talanted people are the most interesting. You can’t convince me that a fool can conceal himself, you always see the real capacity. It shows. Everything shows, when you have been doing interviews for 20 years. It was extremely pleasant for me to interview Vasil Binev, Vasil Mihailov who is also incredible, the actors Ivan Stamenov, Hristo Petkov, Ivan Barnev, Dimitar Banenkin, the ballerino Yasen Vulchanov, Danial Vulchev also, Maria Grozdeva, the athlete Mirela Demireva.... I can’t list all of them. 4. And the hardest to reach? - When someone has accepted, he automatically becomes not hard to reach, because he sees my good will. He feels it. There’s no point in watching from above, because its ugly and rude. It’s suppressing even. There are some people, who have denied- for example, wanting money for the interview. But there are also some that I have been patiently, for months. When I know that the interview will happen, I don’t give up. When I choose someone, I also take into account the risks and probabilities. 5. What do you think about the freedom of speech in Bulgaria? What do we need in order to change our position- 111th place? - Me and Cultinterview.com have our freedom. Because no one stands on my head and my thoughts. Now, having no point in saying some things is a whole other question. Or trying to convince someone in something? It’s hopeless. 6. Is the Bulgarian music free? - Music is free on its own. Creating songs has a specific meaning order. There is no way for someone to tell you how to write a song. You can only follow the harmony, the melody. There are rules, but the small series of tons can be shuffled and as a result- I can write a song, you can write a completely different one. I gave many years of my life to music. I didn’t give up on it because I’ve been in the field since I was 8 years old, but I prefer the songs I make to go to other artists- new, popular. I’m not only talking about music, but also about the lyrics. 7. You have written many different songs, lyrics and interviews... Which style do you feel is very close to you? - It’s not about style. The style is mine everywhere, and all of this, even if you do not believe it, has always happened at the same time. I had just finished the music school in Dobrich, when I started making interviews for “Dobrudjanian Tribune”, and after that- for “ New Dobrujanian Tribune”. After that I studied in Sofia and gave out interviews for “Review” magazine, for “Grace” magazine and others .. You see, everything went along together. How can you say it’s not when there aren’t any facts in reverse benefit? 🙂 8. Finish the sentence “The pandemic of...” - Well, it’s clear, but I’m done talking about this topic. Really. I hear, watch, read, all the time, I’m hoping. Can we get a pandemic of culture next time? Only for some diversity. 9. How would you describe a free person? A free nation? Country? What does freedom mean to you? - Look- a Lion hardly asks for anyone’s opinion and does not accept it. Therefore, he’s always free. I can’t feel if someone’s pressuring me, and I’m trying to feel sublime and spirited. I just can’t. But now, when I started drawing T-shirts, and also watercolor, there you have a new freedom. The nation is not free. Maybe now its hands are tied because of the...pandemic. But when they untie them, it will all clear up. Airplanes will fly in the sky. Now we don’t hear them. They are gone. And how much I want to be in one of them soon... Maybe to Lisbon?!
